Which drones do we use?

Our experienced drone pilots for hire use both the DJI Mavic 3 Pro and DJI Mini 2 for our commercial drone operations by DJI. Combining the use of both of these allows us to create the best end result for our customers. Learn more about our drone fleet below and the usage of them in providing our services in this article.

DJI Mavic 3 Pro

The DJI Mavic 3 Pro is the main drone we use when providing our aerial services, offering the highest quality videos and photos with the triple camera system. The drone features a flight time of 43 minutes, dual tele cameras, omnidirectional obstacle sensing and video transmission up to 15km.

Here’s some specifications of the DJI Mavic 3 Pro:

  • Weight: 958 grams
  • Max Speed: 46.9 mph
  • Maximum Flight Time: 43 minutes
  • Sensors: Omnidirectional obstacle sensing

Given the weight of the DJI Mavic 3 Pro, it brings more restrictions on the use and flight of it within the UK, specifically within residential areas.

DJI Mini 2

The DJI Mini 2 is also used by us when carrying out our aerial drone services. This smaller drone enables us to fly closer to both persons, buildings and residential areas, meaning a greater variety of photo or video is possible within the current UK drone laws. The drone features a flight time of 31 minutes, a singular camera and video transmission up to 10km.

Here’s some specifications of the DJI Mini 2:

  • Weight: 249 grams
  • Max Speed: 36 mph
  • Maximum Flight Time: 31 minutes
  • Sensors: Ground detection sensors

Combining both the DJI Mavic 3 Pro and DJI Mini 2

The current drone laws provide restrictions on the use and flight of a drone based on the takeoff weight. As seen above, the DJI Mavic 3 Pro is significantly heavier than the DJI Mini 2, meaning it falls into a different category and carries restrictions on takeoff within a proximity to residential areas, people or buildings.

This is an important consideration for us when carrying out aerial photos and videos, meaning we will often use both drones when carrying out drone operations for our customers to enable us to fly closer to a building or person, especially if the business is based in a busy residential area such as a town centre.

As the DJI Mini 2 weighs only 249 grams, this means it has no restrictions on the flight in proximity to persons and buildings (except for restrictions on the flight over large gatherings of people), meaning we can achieve some of the best photos and videos in close proximity to a premises or event.
